We don´t represent the average design studio. We are to be found more on the left wing, while you will find someone on the other end of the scale. Perhaps somewhere in the middle you will find the perfect design. We are more like something to navigate with for others, perhaps?
LS: Can you name the artist/designer who had the most profound influence on you?
GP: It is hard to tell since we have had and have many things that inspire us. I believe it is more the sum of influences rather than one specific person or group who has been important to us.

LS: What destinguishes design made in Norway from design made in other European countries?
GP: Design from Norway? In general, not only graphic design, I would say it is minimalist design. A bit influenced by nature and the surroundings. And very careful, gentle and tame. What people in Norway has forgotten is that this is a country, very rich on drama in nature, folklore, fairy tales and old architecture. Functionalism and the appreciation for Scandinavian design is responsible for this.
LS: It seems that Scandinavian design has a strong impact globally. Grandpeople bear responsibility as the part of Scandinavia. How do you feel about it?
GP: This is something I have understood the recent years that ‘Scandinavian Design’ is something that is big abroad. And the Nordic countries is to be found a bit exotic. Well, Norway, as a part of Scandinavia, is often seen as one of the countries as exporter of Scandinavian design. But in fact, it is Sweden, Denmark and Finland that has been main exporters of cold minimalist design and architecture. Norway still lacks contributions on an international level – and hopefully a future contributor will be distanced from what usually is being made here up north. As I see it, Nordic design needs some new directions. We try the best we can to not do the same that´s typical of Nordic things. We have no interest in following the trends that have been going on here for decades. It is not representative for us as professional designers, nor private persons.
